hellOOO dOraemOn

why i took the sad expression

early bird promotion

when i knew doraemon expo will happen in Jakarta. i was super excited. it would feel like meeting childhood cartoon heroes. too excited until i bought early bird tickets which is 20% off on 30th nov (which is the last day promo), of course after i 'poisoned' 3 of my friends. (later during the show has opened, they still sell promo price for the tickets. turns out the same. huh).

then i get more excited after i browse doraemon expo in other countries. Looks nice and super fun.

the day

The doraemon secret gadget expo has opened since 28th nov. but i didn't have time to attend and my friends also cannot. i forgot why, definitely duty calls. A week before the expo end, we got a chance. Before the day, i browse the photo inside this expo. Not many exciting things. Mostly they take the same spot. Hmm... my expectation was dropped.

still in the mood of being new driver. this is the northernmost area i've been driving. The expo happened in Ancol area and finding Ancol Beach City Mall is hard for the clueless me. After we find it, the empty parking lot is hard to find too. after circling 2 or 3 times we find it.

line up

i was shocked by the looong line up. didn't expect still crowded like this. we split. my friend kept line up and me exchanged with the real tickets. thanks i bought tickets via online, no queue at all in exchanging tickets. One of my friend cannot come and we sold her ticket. (later on, we used this money to buy dorayaki and coin game). i understand why we must line up, to maintain the quantity of people inside. So, you don't feel to much crowded then you can't enjoy the expo, even you can't take photo (this is important)

inside

as a starters, it tells the origins of doraemon. too many people wanted to take photo with this doraemon. me not interested.
the next is a room full of many many doraemons and his inspired gadget.

back of the rounded blue heads

this is the look of grown ups nobita and shizuka

palms and fingers

front side full of many people wants to take photo with these

one of the nice & people-free of room scenes

feels completed after the two of us in one frame

see. too crowded people.

image background at the exit. although we feel tired, this image hard to be passed without us in it

we get more silly

end line

  • super happy. higher than my expectation.
  • super worth it with the price i pay, many things to see and capture.
  • divided into areas : the origins of doraemon itself | 100 doraemon figures with its super gadget |  nobita's wedding altar | room scenes from the series | pose while using the gadget | neighborhood scenes | gift & souvenir area
  • the quality of figure's finishing is quite clean and neat even the expo almost over. it seen the wholeheartedly the people behind this.
  • two thumbs for the organizing committee and the visitor. i see no trash, no random hand lettering that irritated its look.
  • the image background is much more interested rather than 3d figures.

Lithograph & Painting Exhibition by Jeroen Hermkens

the easy looked but not that easy.

it looks simple and easy.
look closer, i see no details needed, just a rough shape. and a simple shades.
look faraway, i see the story, what he wants to tell us.

sometimes details are not important.

favorites

love its simplicity

spotted corner of what if Diponegoro was reclaimed

Different place, same subject, same time, different point of view.
As this exhibition happen in Erasmus Huis, which is the Dutch embassy, they wanna tell us how the Prince Dipenogoro in Dutch Perspective.

Prince Diponegoro (1975-1855) was the chief protagonist in the Java War (1825-1830), aimed at removing the Dutch from political control of Java. After 5 years of struggle, the Dutch arrested Diponegoro at a 'peace conference; in 1830, and exiled him to Celebes (Sulawesi). ... The Java War was an economic and political turning point in Indonesia's modern history. ... Today Diponegoro whose name means 'Light of the Country,' has a 'national hero' status in Indonesia.

What i really spotted & interested is how Luthfi Hasan interpret Diponegoro in mixed media installation that titled 'Diponegoro reclaimed (2014)'. He used recycled materials.
Hasan seeks to show that something that has existed, or has been used in the past, does not mean that its purpose has disappeared. This, in his view, also applies to Diponegoro and his principles of conviction, bravery, determination, and loyalty. Diponegoro's heroism and values continue to be relevant today.

He treats every creation as his daughter, with named it saudari tertua or big sister for the oldest collection and saudari termuda or young sister for the clothes who was born latest.
