the other side of letter at Type Director's Club (TDC) 62's Jakarta

deep inside me, still have a little thing about typography. so, when i found out about this exhibition while randomly scrolling on instagram, i couldn't resist not to pay a visit.
although the location is not far from where i live, i've never heard a place called IDDC (Indonesia Design Development Center). thankfully, the location is on gmaps, but still my friend and i missed the building. maybe next time, the committee need to put a large signage in front of the building.

from the outside the building is kinda old, there's no sign or feel like there's a design in it. it's quite empty, i thought we are lost.
but when we come inside, i was instantly fascinated by the spiral display and the high ceiling.
the committee know how to maximally the space with no crowded feeling. another interesting thing about the space is it has a second floor that we can see the ground floor. see, the space is so capture-able.
although the display is only at the atrium, but i feel enough to see the good content in it.

later on, i found on another article, there's another room that can be explored. maybe because we visit on weekday and the place is quite empty, so there's no sign about the other room.

meanwhile, more about this exhibition, i've gathered from several websites that worth to click (truthfully, i am lazy to write a describable post) :

www.tdc.org
"This exhibit showcases winners of the 2016 Type Directors Club annual competition, which highlights the best of the best typographic work in both communication and typeface design from studios and individuals internationally"

kudos.nyc
"We designed 3D graphics by revolving T-D-C letterforms in sequential angles and floating them in space. These graphics are applied to all aspects of marketing communications. For the exhibit space, we collaborated with APTA to design the spiraling poster panels suspended in space."

manual.co.id
"No doubt that the exhibition has provided a splendid opportunity for design students and enthusiasts to widen their typography knowledge and its application."

www.whiteboardjournal.com
"Adanya identitas kuat di tiap karya yang terpilih, membuat pameran ini kaya referensi dan print menarik dalam menginterpretasikan typography secara progresif."

kamarupa.co.id
"We didn’t get to know the story behind each artwork, but that was probably the point; posters are supposed to be easy to understand and appreciate even when taken out of context."
